Berlin, then and now...

June 29

First of all, let me say that Berlin can, in no way, be covered in a few days! Straddling the Spree River for 30 miles, this city boasts  of 3.5 million inhabitants and lies amidst the 343 sq. mile "county" of the same name. Much of what you see is modern, rebuilt  and very cosmopolitan. It is obligatory, however, to also see the reminders of WWll and more recently, the remnants of the "wall",  built in 1961 to divide the city and its people. A guided tour is the best way to get an overall view of things.
